About

‘Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis on which the world earth revolves – slowly, evenly, without rushing toward the future. Live the actual moment.’ Thich Nhat Hanh

Hallo!

Thanks for stumbling upon this space.

I am an ordinary person who is interested in becoming happier and more at peace with myself.

I have much to be happy about. I am married to a wonderful person whom I love very much. We have two delightful and precocious young kids who make us laugh and cry every day. I live on a sunny island city called Singapore where everything works. I have a close-knitted family and I have my health. For the longest time, I didn’t even have to colour my hair (oh well, that’s beginning to change now).

But too often, I suffered bouts of melancholy and listlessness. There was often this recurrent sense of discontent and dissatisfaction about life.

To battle such feelings, I will turn to reading up about happiness, wellness and health.

The Chinese have a saying called 修身养性 (xiu shen yang xing). It means that it takes years of deliberate effort to train your body and cultivate your mind to the level that you wish to reach. I am still very much a “work in progress”, and I wish to share with you what I have found on my bewildering and meandering journey called Life.

This blog is to share with you tips about becoming happier and healthier. I hope that it will become a resource for you to become the best version of yourself.

As the author Susan Elizabeth Phillips says, “We’re all works in progress, honey.” Let us all work towards becoming a happier, more confident and shinier version of ourselves!

With love,
The Stretching Cat
